We assert that Jesus is the most credible of all the religions because He rose from the dead.
Why does that make Him credible over other religions’ prophets?
No matter who you are, you must make your decision about who is more credible; Jesus, or someone else.
If you are impressed by how Islam has spread by the sword vs. how faith in Christ has spread with the “towel”,
when followers of Christ have killed people in His name, that’s a violent contradiction of Christ.
But when followers of Muhammed have used the sword, they are not contradicting him.
In the Quran, Muhammed writes “Live at peace with all people.” Then he goes on and says, “defend yourself if you are attacked”,
but then thirdly he says, “kill the infidel.” (some will debate these remarks as out of context. Click the link below and read more for yourself)
But, you see, when you study the different options, what you begin to realize is the evidence:
For Jesus you must look at the evidence:
- Were His teachings of peace and serving others?
Did He reject hatred of another, regardless of origin or status?
Did He even take that as far as to accept and approve women to be as competant as man? - What was his lifestyle? Did He maintain purity?
Did He marry or have a relationship that might tarnish His reputation?
Did He ever speak or utter words to incite others to violence? - What about the way He treated people? He was kind to both of Jewish and non-Jewish lineage.
He taught a life of sacrifice, serving and giving is the greatest reward, rejecting violence and revenge. - The way He died, loving and forgiving His enemies; even those who did Him the most harm by crucifying Him.
- The way He rose from the dead and appeared to over 500 people, not as a spirit but as flesh and blood; proving it to them in many cases.
This evidence points to Christ being the truth.
For you to make a rational decision on the reliability of Jesus vs. the reliability of other religions you must study, compare and contrast and be prepared to defend to others to make an argument that would withstand critique. To do that you must compare the same things in your study.
For example, with Muhammed, you must look at the same evidence as Jesus above.
- What were his teachings? Of peace? Also of war and violence, retribution and revenge.
- What was his lifestyle? Multiple marriages,
- The way he treated people. His teachings of peace, but lying and deceit if needing to hide.
His waffling of tolerance, but then misusing/mistreating others as a way of revenge.
Teaching his people how to claim riches and subjugate the world through control. - The fact that he died as a man, who taught and thought as a man, and did not rise from the dead.
So, when comparing these two it is easy to see that the attributes of Jesus far outweigh those of Muhammed. With the goodness and peacefulness of his teachings, it becomes clear that it doesn’t outweigh that of peace and love for all people. The culture, grounded in traditions that are rooted in patriarchy and actively wish to remain in control of people (especially women) shows that love is not part of the religion as it doesn’t implode these cultural traditions.
But, that is the opinion of the un-named author who penned this information.
To evaluate Jesus against one of the other religions you must read one of the Gospels, I would recommend reading the Book of John
For someone exploring Christianity, this direct invitation to faith, paired with memorable stories and deep truths, cuts through to the essence of the faith.
